COMPLETED RACES

Two hikers show their Winter Downs 200 awards with smiles.

Centurion Running - Winter Downs 200 (Dec'25)

We entered this race with a lot of trepidation as it was nothing like anything we had done before - 200 miles of muddy, hilly trail covering the South Downs Way and North Downs Way, deep in the winter when there is only 8 hours of daylight each day. We were very lucky with the dry weather during the race, but it was a very hard slog due to the extremely wet and muddy ground caused by heavy rain in the weeks before . We ran the entire race together and crossed the line absolutely battered but elated just to finish!

It took us a mammoth 86 hours and 17 minutes!

Ultrarunning Limited - The Joust 24 Hour Race (Sep'25)

This was a bit of a repeat of Endure24 in June.  Paul again had ankle issues, forcing him to stop earlier than he would have liked (13 laps, 72.8 miles in 20 hours, 35 minutes) but Aimee obtained a distance PB, completing 20 laps (112 miles) in 22 hours, 55 minutes.

She not only won the Ladies' Champion trophy again but she actually won the race overall - this was the first time in its 13 year history the race had been won by a woman!

Endure24 Reading (Jun'25)

This was our third time running Solo at this 24 hour race -  Aimee smashed it while Paul had a rough day. An ankle injury flared up forcing Paul to stop  after 9 laps, so he switched to crewing for Aimee as she pushed towards 100 miles. Aimee stopped running after 20 laps due to blister issues (hitting 100 miles in 21 hours 17 minutes), then walked a final lap with Paul to get him to 50 miles and herself to 105 miles.

Aimee finished 2nd Female and 9th Overall!

Beyond Marathon - Escape from Meriden Chained (Nov'24)

This is a crazy race where we had 36 hours to run as far as possible starting at Meriden (centre of England), but chained together!

It did not go to plan, Paul had plotted us a route heading west which was very hilly and he did not do well with his fuelling. Ultimately he bonked and we had to stop after around 26 hours having completed around 73 miles.

Ultrarunning Limited - The Joust 24 Hour Race (Sep'24)

This was our second attempt as Solo Runners at The Joust and it went much better for us this year! We ran most of the race together, with Aimee doing one final lap on her own, meaning she completed 20 laps (107 miles) in 23 hours and Paul completed 19 laps (101.6 miles) in 21 hours, 51 minutes).

We finished 2nd and 3rd Overall and Aimee won the Ladies' Champion trophy!

Endure24 Reading (Jun'24)

This was our second time running Solo at Endure24 (which is run on a 5 mile trail loop).  We both wanted to get 100 miles this time but we were not confident as we were still fatigued from The Bridge 100 just 3 weeks' prior. In the end, Paul called it after 11 laps (55 miles in 13 hours) and Aimee stopped after 15 laps (75 miles in 16 hours, 48 minutes).

Cockbain Events - The Bridge 100 (May'24)

This is a 100 mile race run entirely on the Old Severn Bridge - a 2 mile suspension  bridge connecting England (South Gloucestershire) and Wales (Monmouthshire). This race will always be special to both of us as it was the first time we ran 100 miles!

Aimee was actually the first finisher with her time of 23 hours 14 minutes (she was the only person to finish in less than 24 hours).

Paul completed it in 27 hours 24 minutes.

Mudcrew - Arc 50 (Jan'24)

This was the last year of Mudcrew managing this race and it was a fantastic experience.

It was an epic achievement for us because the Arc of Attrition Cornish coastal path is beautiful but absolutely brutal in winter!

We completed the 50 miles together in a time of 14 hours 25 minutes.

Ultrarunning Limited - The Joust 24 Hour Race (Sep'23)

This 24 hour race takes place over a 5.5(ish) mile loop. Our first experience did not go brilliantly! Unfortunately it fell on another heatwave weekend and this time neither of us coped well in the heat. We stayed together and ground out 13 slow laps (69.5 miles in 23 hours, 10 mins).

Aimee's finish unexpectedly won her 2nd Female which was her first ever running trophy!

Endure24 Reading (Jun'23)

This was our first ever 24 hour race (Endure24 is on a 5 mile trail loop) and it was absolute chaos! There was a brutal heatwave, Paul went down with heatstroke and nearly quit during the night, but Aimee persuaded him back out to walk a lap with her which got him going again. In the end, Paul managed 13 laps (65 miles) in just over 24 hours, and Aimee completed 17 laps (85 miles) in 23 hours, 33 minutes, finishing 5th Female.

Not bad considering it was our debut at this race format!
